School Tuition

Background

Students often need a little extra assistance to get the best out of schooling and to realise their potential, or to move from the actual to the possible.

Tuition can provide

ongoing support for students who are really struggling to master concepts and skills in certain subject areas. Ongoing support may be crucial to students’ continuing development.
temporary support for students who are having difficulty at a certain point in time.
regular support for students who just need that extra bit of help to be successful.
support and focus for talented students who might have lost their way a little and who do not perform well in a classroom situation.
extension activities for those students who want more than that which is offered in the school situation.

Who can benefit from tuition

Any student can benefit from tuition. Tuition is generally used to complement that which is done in schools.

School Tuition at the International Academy of Education

To assist students move ‘toward the possible’, the International Academy of Education offers tuition across a range of school subjects from Years R-12. Individual or small group tuition can provide support, focus, direction and challenge to students who want to move forward from the actual to the possible.

Tuition may also be arranged for some subjects not offered by a school but which students wish to undertake privately usually at Year 11 or Year 12 level.

Sessions

Tuition may be carried out in small groups or individually according to need. Each session is 50 minutes in duration.

Sessions will start on the hour and will finish at 10 to the next hour. Students should arrive at least 5 minutes before scheduled starting time.

During tuition

At the initial session, the tutor will ascertain what is needed during the tuition program. Parental input is advisable for younger students who may not have the capacity to recognise their own areas of need.

Samples of work and assessment are useful to help the tutor gauge the areas of difficulty.

A program will be established. This program may mimic the school program, it may be completely independent or it may be some sort of combination of the two approaches.

A record will be kept of all sessions, testing will be conducted regularly, and written feedback will be provided to the student’s family on a regular basis.

Fees

Fees are charged at the following rates per 50 min.session:

Individual: $60:00

Small group tuition: $40:00 (if applicable)

Sessions must be purchased in blocks of 5.
